Team Leader

Objectives

  • Translate Head of SMU’s vision into structured plan and deliverables working with Associates and Junior Associates
  • Be an integral part of a dynamic team implementing the Chief Minister’s delivery mandate with leadership responsibility for Health, Education, Water, Sanitation
  • Provide leadership, coaching, guidance and direction for SMU roadmap teams, by actively managing team work plans and review of all final outputs
  • Manage operations, performance management and professional development of all SMU employees

Main Activities / Responsibilities

  • Align with SMU Head and help develop plan to implement SMU strategy and vision
  • Actively assist and support SMU Head on key stakeholder meetings
  • Manage overall SMU work plan to ensure key objectives of SMU roadmap teams are met
  • Review all SMU output for Quality Assurance
  • Develop SMU employees professional development program
  • Work with Associates on developing plans on strategic thinking across roadmaps 
  • Work with Data Team on setting overall strategy for data team
  • Assist in managing leadership-level relationships
  • Lead problem solving for assigned priorities
  • Lead teams that work directly with owners of delivery activities of departments to provide problem solving support to civil servants
  • Evaluate progress and build capacity of roadmap teams
  • Ensure high quality outputs (e.g. analysis and presentations) produced 
  • Lead performance management process of all SMU employees
  • Develop and implement professional development program for SMU employees

Essential Qualifications and Experiences

  • Master degree in Engineering, Economics or Social Sciences (18 years of education) is preferred
  • Work experience: 6 – 15 years
  • Significant experience of management in government or business
  • Determined and focused
  • Optimistic and confident
  • Track record of delivery under pressure
  • Aptitude for building solid, trust based relationships with senior government leaders
  • Good analytical capability
  • Passion and commitment for the mission
  • Willing to work hard under pressure
  • Knowledge of sector desirable but not essential
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Track record of bold thinking, risk taking and displaying an energetic mind set
  • Fluent Urdu language ability preferred

  • Experience of managing large complex projects in government or business
  • Aptitude for building solid, trust based relationships with senior government leaders
  • Track record of leading large  teams
